We asked Pastors Chris and Michelle for some of the best books they have read in 2017. Here are their top 7! Could be great Christmas presents...!
Pastor Chris
The best book I read in 2017 was Fight by Preston Sprinkle. If you want to know whether or not the teachings of Jesus require His followers to be pacifists, this book is a must read. I guarantee it will challenge your paradigm and rock your world!
The Garden City by John Mark Comer. This book is a brilliantly readable theology of work for the everyday person struggling to connect their vocation with God’s greater purposes in the world. It is well-researched, easy to read, and down to earth in its application.
What Grieving People Wish You Knew by Nancy Guthrie. If you want to be a better friend and comforter when walking with people through dark valleys in their life, this book is for you.
The Problem of God by Mark Clark. Mark is a local pastor with a big church and a passion to reach out to non-churched people. The Problem with God tackles in an honest and rigorous fashion some of the big questions, or objections, that people have to Christianity.
Pastor Michelle
The Making of an Ordinary Saint: My Journey from Frustration to Joy with the Spiritual Disciplines by Nathan Foster.  Foster's book addresses the same topic as his father's (Richard Foster) famous book, Celebration of Discipline, but does so in a very accessible way - one that does not make you feel that you have to wake up an extra two hours early every morning to implement spiritual disciplines, but how to apply them in the already-established rhythms of your life. They are to bring joy to your life, not burden.
Ghost Boy by Martin Pistorius. This is the true story of a young man who went into a vegetative state due to a virus, but his mind was still fine and no one knew it. After reading this book, you will never treat a non-verbal or non-responsive person the same way again. Raised in an agnostic family, it is also amazing to see how he encounters God through his experiences.
Created for Connection: The "Hold Me Tight" Guide for Christian Couples by Dr.Sue Johnson. Once I got past the cheesy title, this is the best book on marriage I have read. Unlike other books on marriage, it does not focus on gender-specific needs or conflict resolution, but on how each of us is wired for emotional connection and how this can be (re)established in any marriage. I wish I read this book 25 years ago!

Enjoy your reading!
